Top Style Blogger Looks Of The Week: Cool Colored Tights (By Style.mtv.com)

Tights are a cold weather staple. But just because it's drab and gray outside doesn't mean your look needs to be. Which is why our newest obsession is colored tights. We turned to some of our favorite style bloggers — Collette Ann Osuna of Statements In Fashion, Annie Cullen of Time Enough For Drums, Charlotte Crowley of Girl Next Door Fashion and Eunice Tan of Hey Fancy Pants — for some much needed inspiration and ideas about how to incorporate this must-have into our wardrobes for quick bursts of color during these cold winter months. Read on to find out how to brighten up your day with hose in hues like theirs.

Collette Ann Osuna of Statements In Fashion
We absolutely adore Michigan-based blogger Collette's purple tights! They bring a bold blast of color to her layered look, while also complementing the blues and purples of her dress and sweater. The best part? Colette scored the whole outfit from the always-affordable Forever 21, with the exception of her oh-so-winter shearling booties — those are from Charlotte Russe.
Annie Cullen of Time Enough For Drums
Blogger Annie Cullen, who hails from Virginia, is a seasoned vintage and thrift store owner, and it's clear from her striped sweater, black dress, and green hat style just how much she loves vintage looks. But it's her crimson tights that are our favorite. These tights feature an argyle pattern, offering a subtle twist on the trend and turning these red legs into a statement all on their own.

Charlotte Crowley of Girl Next Door Fashion
British blogger Charlotte Crowley took a colorful approach to her outfit. True, wearing too many bright colors can be risky, but when done right, it's an eye-catching look. Charlotte's aqua tights are the centerpiece here, and her yellow trench (bought off of eBay!) complements it nicely. Her Topshop belt and Barratts brown booties balance out the colors, making the whole look fun and wearable.

Eunice Tan of Hey Fancy Pants
Australian blogger Eunice Tan kept her look minimal, drawing all the attention to her outfit with her use of opposite colors. She pulled together a minimal dress and vintage Mary Janes with the addition of her navy We Love Colours tights. With her outfit, it's clear that colored tights don't always have to be loud because practical dressing can be cute, too. (Which we love!)

Tara's Summer wishlist

I have never been very excited by summer. It gets SO HOT in Perth that I would basically rather lie under the airconditioner in my pyjamas, rather than actually get dressed (the effort!) and go outside (the stifling heat!). However, this year I have made a resolution to actually make an effort - so I don't go without outfit posts for three months - and have been compiling a wishlist to help me get inspired.
1. Shorts
I have always been a bit self-conscious of my legs, so have shied away from wearing shorts for most of my life. But this year I thought, eff that, and bought a gorgeous pair of Hi There by Karen Walker navy blue, nautical inspired shorts that fit like a dream. This has intensified my lust for shorts and in my "research" (internet shopping) I found these pairs that would be very happy in my wardrobe. I have wanted a pair of leather shorts for ages (although I'm not sure how practical they would be in 40ºC heat); these shorts by Sparkle and Fade are perfect - they're not too short or too tight. The Shorts of It draped shorts by Modcloth would be so incredibly comfortable and also fit the bill of not being so tight. I can see them being paired with a simple white tee and clogs for an effortless look. The Kimchi printed shorts look like they would be so flattering and it is such a simple print it could be paired with almost anything on top. And finally, the Lover scalloped short from Princess Polly captures another style that I've been lusting after for ages. I love the neutral tan colour, too.

2. Wedges
I love wedges and feel like they suit summer perfectly. The Jeffrey Campbell Flower of the Hour wedges, available from Modcloth, are fantastic for spring and the floral print makes such a chunky shoe seem a bit more feminine. The pair by Seed Femme features a kind of worn-looking leather and (having tried them on in store) I can vouch that they are incredibly soft and very, very comfortable. I have been lusting after a pair of clogs since my Rubi shoes ones unceremoniously broke beyond repair on a walk home from the pub, and I think these Funkis ones would fill the void nicely. I absolutely HATED clogs when I first saw but they've grown on me now and I am desperate for a pair that doesn't break! The Tunnelbana Heel from Modcloth would be perfect under maxi dresses and for summer occasions are a bit more formal.

3. Maxi Dresses
I love maxi dresses for summer; they're such an easy option to throw on and still look dressed up. It takes me a while to find one that doesn't make me look shorter, but once I do, I hardly ever take it off (in case you're wondering, I've found great ones at Witchery, Jay Jays and from op-shops). The Sportsgirl beaded maxi is great for nighttime - the beaded neckline looks very Sass & Bide inspired. The Navy Pipeline Maxi Dress from Button'n'Thread Boutique is a kind of unusual shape for a maxi - it looks a bit more elegant and Bianca Jagger, Studio 54 inspired, rather than simply 'beachy bohemian princess', like the vibe most other maxi dresses exude. The Very Vital Maxi Dress from Modcloth is just that - very vital! The stripes are flattering in all the right places and it's a bold choice for spring/summer.

4. Accessories
I won't go into too much detail here because they're pretty self explanatory - but all of them exude spring or summer to me in some way. Butterfly headband by Which Goose, turban and sunhat from Sportsgirl, sunglasses all from Girl Props (the first two pairs are making their way to me as we speak!), Refraction necklace by Drown from Alegorie, Quite Contrary earrings from Modcloth, Lulu Guinness tote from ASOS.

Button N Thread now appears on "Girl with a Satchel"

Today's story is brought to you by Button N Thread boutique, home to cute and affordable clothing for girls with Prada tastes on Payless budgets... Aged 10, I developed a sure-fire method for achieving all my childhood goals (acing spelling tests, ballet exams and cursive writing exercises and not being picked last for the lunchtime volleyball teams): if I read Rachel Isadora's Opening Night before taking on a task, the result would surely be success.I'm not sure how this superstitious habit developed, but it must have worked because that book is imprinted on my brain like the Gummi Bears theme song (bouncing here and there and everywhere...) and those indelible words by Judy Blume: "I must, I must, I must increase my bust".

The book gave me a self-belief boost, as the central character, Heather, aces her ballet solo. But my favourite parts are when she bestows a pair of leg warmers on her ballerina crush, Laura, and dons a kimono to have her makeup applied. All the girls aspired to own kimonos; a kimono said, "I'm a serious ballerina".I was reminded of the book when I received my "Lady Legging Print" long-sleeve tee from Button N Thread, which is the sort of comfy, kitschy cover-all I'd adopt for after-class cool-downs if I was still a tween (or teen) ballerina but is equally as adaptable for "play days" in the GWAS office.Button N Thread is a friendly Australian fashion site run by girls who love their clothes that would appeal to readers of Dolly through to SHOP Til You Drop and Lady Melbourne. Little floral dresses, embellished grey tees and simple tank tops are priced from $27 and sourced from all sorts of places, while purchases are lovingly wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon... just like the posies of roses bestowed on ballerinas after the Opening Night show.
Yours truly,Girl With a Satchel

Button N thread appears on Le Blog de Sushi

I managed to take these photos just in time yesterday; as soon as I went inside it started pouring. I do mostly prefer the cooler weather but am starting to look forward to warm spring days and wearing pastels, pastels and more pastels.
At the moment I'm making do with layering neutral colours. Speaking of which, this gorgeous grey chiffon dress was sent to me by Button N Thread Boutique, a sparkly new sponsor of Le Blog de Sushi. I really love the extra detail it brings to an outfit with the the pleats and alternating metal/fabric strands on the front. Button N Thread offer world-wide shipping and their great range of pretty clothing and accessories are all under AUD $45.00!
The ankle boots are a vintage find from eBay. I was excited when I saw they had a low heel but where still cute because I have to walk everywhere here. Unfortunately, I fell into the trap of thinking lower heel equals more comfort, when actually I would be better off wearing my 4" Chloe booties than these. Oh well, they probably just need some wearing in.

Button N thread AGAIN appears on Lady Melbourne

So when I said yesterday that I was wearing Subfusco to the event last night I think some of you thought I was going to wear the dress pictured in the previous post. Is she going into space? Is she about to perform surgery? I didn’t know Lady M was pregnant!
My photos didn’t do the sequin detailing on Josh’s work any justice, so just to tease you(there is a bumper post coming!) I thought I’d share the outfit I did wear last night.
I’m not sure whether you would call it a coat, a jacket, a cape but with a flow of black sequins trailing behind me all night I felt like a million dollars gaining interest. And I didn’t trip up once!

Button N thread appears Lady Melbourne!!!

I love blog shops, I love shopping online and I love it even more when I find something that is affordable and stylish. So when Button n’ Thread came a knocking saying, ‘Lady M, that’s us!’ I was pretty happy because there are soooo many online shopping portals these days I’m not even sure where to start sometimes.
Anyhow I wore this dress in yesterdays post and had emails, tweets and even texts from friends saying, ‘WHERE DID YOU GET THAT DRESS?!’ I think it’s the sleeves right? There is something appealing about the soft volume I think. Anyhow, it’s a Button n’ Thread creation, as is the little cardi of which the sleeves are the same pattern.
I’ve got my eye on the Lady Legging print tank but I can’t decide between grey or pale pink…or white for that matter. Help!
